The Boston consulting group (BCG) said that the Indian government should first solve the problem of natural gas shortage, otherwise, by 2015, the gas supply shortages will be more than 200 million cubic meters/day.
According to BCG research added, India natural gas supply and demand gap will expand in the short term, to 2015, the domestic natural gas production can only meet 50% of its needs.
This shortage could exacerbate Indian to dependence on coal, however, coal is becoming more and more expensive, therefore, natural gas shortage will break India long-term economic development prospects.
BCG, points out that new Delhi will take three-pronged method, in order to avoid a looming shortage of natural gas.
BCG said: "especially, the Indian government need to make active plan to the LNG, using the current global LNG market available opportunity active attack."
It added: "the government should encourage development of the domestic and foreign enterprises and the relationship between the upstream industry."
BCG, points out that new Delhi to rapid development India unconventional gas resources, such as shale gas and coalbed methane (CBM).
